Morgan launched herself from the rooftop. The sun hadn’t quite risen yet, but it wasn’t as if the dark scared her. As expected, the images being picked up by the camera on her leg were appearing on the laptop balanced precariously on Kian’s lap. Whatever had savaged the ground team’s leader wasn’t likely to hit him all the way up here.
This small stroke of genius was the brain child of the poison team’s leader. Kian believed his(?) name was Remy. He’d originally thought to enact it in tandem with the flying team, but after most of them simply rushed headlong into danger searching for the culprit, he’d found himself lacking candidates.
He’d been apprehensive of letting Kian join the mission at first. Apparently something had occured between him and Ruby a few years ago that made him mistrustful of anyone who would choose to associate with her. The tale had gotten bigger with each re-telling but it definately somehow involved a watermelon, a bucket, and a hot glue gun. There may or may not also have been a hot tub.
Either way, he accepted Kian’s help and along with several members of the flying team, they spent the morning going through seemingly endless drills of being taught how to opperate their equipment. Which wire plugs in where, how to safely attach the camera, how to safely remove the camera,which radio lines to stay in contact through, what to do if you were attacked, what to do if someone else was attacked, where the theoretical best vantage points were (if they hadn’t been knocked down by virtue of being in a ground-type habitat), and other seemingly pointless information.
It was mind-numbing. Kian was almost positive that if they weren’t working against the clock he’d have made them take a written exam before he let them go anywhere near the Polish district. With essay questions. And a powerpoint presentation going for 40% of the marks. And even then only the top ten scorers would be allowed on the mission. But only after a month long cooling period.

Beureaucracy is a wonderful thing.

Even at the end of the drills, Remy still seemed suspicious of Kian. He was constantly glancing at him as if he had some kind of ulterior motives in wanting to join the mission. He was right, of course, but that just goes to show he’s as smart as his reputation says. Sure enough, in spite of wi-fi speed as fast as a sloth on morphine, Kian’s Livestream account was beaming all images being picked up by Morgan’s camera back to his personal computer, which had been conveniently been left in the Indian district’s mansion....

If Morgan found anything, team dark would be first on site. Kian was going to make sure of it.
